Kent bicyclist, 27, killed in collision with box truck | Update

A 27-year-old Kent bicyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck early Wednesday morning, Aug. 30 at the intersection of Kent-Kangley Road and 132nd Avenue SE.

Carlos Gutierrez-Tinsley died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office Sept. 1 media report.

Kent Police and Puget Sound Fire responded at about 5:42 a.m. after multiple 911 calls of an injury crash, according to a Kent Police statement. Witnesses reported that a bicyclist was badly injured.

Officers and firefighters determined that Gutierrez-Tinsley had died from his injuries. The driver of the box truck, a 41-year-old Covington man, is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

This was the third fatal crash in five days in Kent. An 18-year-old Auburn woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Aug. 26 along West Smith Street in downtown Kent and a 22-year-old Kent man died Aug. 28 after a two-vehicle crash along Canyon Drive.
