Wheat Kings top T-Birds in overtime | Game 2, WHL Finals

The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime Saturday at Westman Place in Game 2 of the WHL championship series.
The Wheat Kings have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. They beat the T-Birds by the same score in overtime on Friday night.
Game 3 is at the 7:50 p.m. Tuesday at the ShoWare Center.
Jayce Hawryluk scored the game-winning goal at 6:56 of overtime. Hawryluk threw the puck on net from the right corner and was able to beat Seattle goalie Landon Bow. Tyler Coulter had the only assist.
Both teams had 11 shots on goal in the first period.
Seattle took a 1-0 lead one minute into the second period on Donovan Neuls’ second goal of the series. Scott Eansor carried the puck out of the left corner and crossed the puck to Neuls in the right circle. Neuls ripped a wrist shot over Brandon goalie Jordan Papirny’s left shoulder. Ryan Gropp had the second assist on the goal.
Brandon tied the game 1-1 with a shorthanded goal from Nolan Patrick at 2:21 of the second. Ivan Provorov had the only assist.
Brandon outshot Seattle 12-11 in the second period and led 23-22 in shots after two periods.
Seattle took a 2-1 lead with power-play goal by Ethan Bear at 10:30 of the third period. Jerret Smith passed the puck from the right point across to Bear inside the blue line. Bear took a slap shot, that might have been tipped, and beat Papirny over the blocker. Mathew Barzal had the second assist on the goal.
Brandon tied it 2-2 at 14:40 of the third on a goal from Tyler Coulter. Patrick and Hawryluk had the assists.
Seattle outshot Brandon 15-12 in the third period and led 37-35 in shots after 60 minutes.
Brandon outshot Seattle 4-2 in overtime.
Bow stopped 36 of 39 shots in the loss.
Papirny made 37 saves on 39 shots.

Tickets, TV and promotions
Root Sports Northwest will air Games 2, 3 and 4 of the series on a tape delay this week. Game 2 will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and Game 3 will broadcast at 1:30 a.m. following the game. Game 4 will be shown at midnight following the game and again at 12:30 a.m. the next day, Friday, May 13.
The T-Birds host Games 3, 4 and 5 of the series. Game 3, a Directors Mortgage 2-for-Tuesday game, is officially sold out.
Game 4 is a White Out Wednesday game on May 11. The first 5,000 fans at Game 4 will receive a special, limited edition free T-Birds white T-shirt.
There are approximately 1,200 tickets left for Game 4. Tickets are on sale on the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
