The Kent Reporter athletes of the week for the week of Dec. 27 are from Kent-Meridian; Aeriana Vilog (Jr.) basketball, Christian Mortimer (Sr.) basketball.
What do you value in your sport or about your team?
Mortimer: My team is great and hard working.
Vilong: I value the new skills and the hard work we put in at practice.
What have you learned from your sport that you can take with you throughout your life/future?
Mortimer: Pull back and analyze the situation.
Vilong: I learn how different plays work and new dribbles from coach.
What do you do when you aren’t motivated and what helps you stay motivated?
Mortimer: Watch highlights.
Vilong:My teammates and coaches. I talk to one of my teammates if I am not motivated and they help me stay motivated.
Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?
Mortimer: Emerald City Smoothie.
Vilong: Granola Bars
What advice would you give to a teammate that is struggling?
Mortimer: Anything is possible, keep working and keep God first.
Vilong:I encourage them to keep trying and never give up. We are all here to support you.

Mortimer: Mortimer has taken on a leadership role for his senior year. He also leads the Royals in scoring and rebounding through the first six games. He also has a GPA of 3.0
Vilong:Ariana deserves to be honored as athlete of the week because she is dedicated to her team and getting better each day.
