An update on flood insurance and the Howard Hanson Dam is part of the agenda at the next Kent Chamber of Commerce’s Good Morning Kent program.

Scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 21 at Pat’s Bar & Grill (114 Railroad Ave. S., Kent) the event will feature a speaker from the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner.

Covered will be an overview of lawmaker efforts, and the state, in developing creation of joint underwriting associations, for the purpose of providing businesses in the Green River Valley with insurance levels that could meet their losses, in the event of a flood.

The stakes are high: the City of Kent estimates that the Green River Valley industrial center is the second-largest wholesale distribution center on the West Coast, with a gross business income of nearly $22 billion in 2007.

Aegis Living is sponsoring the chamber event.
