Sound out on health-care bill

To this date, there are 59 senators and 220 House representatives who are disregarding the will of the American people by seeking to push the bill into federal law before we the people can prevent them.

Stay rational on health-care debate

I am always baffled by the cries of constitutionality in regards to our current attempts at universal health care.

The Democrat Party has become the party of oppression. Forcing you to buy health insurance, whether you can afford it or not. Those just above the threshold of poverty now become poor.

You asked about “Green River flooding.” I well remember when I first came here there were plenty of sand bags, even on Meeker at times, years ago.

We need to enforce the laws we have

All of our police officers are a very important part of our justice system, however, making new laws to try and protect us form the criminals just doesn’t make since. Why aren’t the laws we have being enforced?

Little faith in leadership or health-care plan

This year as many in the past each family member made out a list of potential Christmas List of needs or gifts. This year top of my list was a new America flag, as the one I fly each and every day and retire at sunset had become slightly tattered and in need of replacement.

Reader’s ideas for helping Kent’s downtown business community

Seeing all of those empty for rent stores on Meeker downtown is not something to laugh about and is greatly in need of corrections. It’s a darn good thing I’m not a rich person – the first thing I would try is to put a bowling alley and an active pool hall in a couple of those empty shops, then perhaps a small bakery as well as a new-type public museum, and add some rentable rooms...

Reader takes a trip through hell

In your Dec. 2 issue the letter “Reader responds to Metro bus ad” “Yes Virginia, there is no God” is their problem, and I say this because when I left the service I had intended to become a minister until I went to a religious university and the changed my mind ... after two years dropped.

An atheist ad running on Metro busses.

What’s up with Metro’s ‘there is no God’ bus ad?

So, What’s up with Metro allowing: “Yes Virginia, there is no God?” Does this group that took out that ad, have 100% positive proof, without a shadow of a doubt, that this statement is true? I’d really like to know.

Reader’s question regarding church use of public buildings a good one

Thank goodness for Glenn Harrison’s inquiry about church use of public school property (“Why can church use public school?” page 6, Dec. 2 Kent Reporter.) There is nothing wrong with the schools renting for any use including commercial or community as long as the renter is paying market rates for the space and covering costs of utilities, custodial service, etc.
