The Kent-based Seattle Mist are ranked No. 5 out of 12 teams in the first Lingerie Football League power rankings for the 2011-12 season.
LFL officials released the rankings Wednesday, Aug. 17.
“With finally a franchise quarterback under center in (Angela) Rypien coupled with the emergence of (receiver Jessica) Hopkins and (running back Kam) Warner as potential superstars, Mist Nation could surprise in 2011,” according to the LFL website.
The Los Angeles Temptation received the top ranking followed by the Philadelphia Passion, Orlando Fantasy and Tampa Breeze.
Seattle plays home games at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
The 12-team league features scantily clad women playing seven-on-seven tackle football on a 50-yard field. They play 17-minute halves. Each offense features a quarterback, center, two running backs and three receivers.
The players wear helmets with clear face shields, shoulder pads, sports bras, panties, elbow and knee pads.
Seattle opens the season Sept. 30 at the Green Bay Chill. The Mist plays home games Nov. 4 against the Las Vegas Sin and Jan. 6 against the Minnesota Valkyrie at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Seattle also plays Dec. 16 at Los Angeles.
LFL games are televised Friday nights on MTV2. The league opener is Aug. 26 between Minnesota and Green Bay.
