There was plenty of fun and costumes at the annual Kent Nerd Party in historic downtown.

The street-wide event included a cosplay contest, miniature painting contest, Lego museum, live action role-playing games, performances, outdoor vendors and more, according to the Kent Downtown Partnership. The free party was sponsored by The Game Shelf.

All nerds were welcome — whether they loved science fiction, fantasy, horror, anime, gaming, or one of the other innumerable geeky pursuits.

The party went from 2 to 7 p.m. June 7 in historic downtown Kent. Vendors were on First Avenue South between West Gowe Street and East Titus Street, but the event covered all of downtown.
