An 82-year-old man was injured when his bicycle reportedly veered into Kent traffic and fell under the rear tires of a van at about 4:39 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in the 10600 block of Kent-Kangley Road.

The van ran over the legs of the man, said Kent Police Sgt. Jarod Kasner in an email. The man remained hospitalized Friday.

There appears to be no wrongdoing or impairment with the van driver, a Maple Valley man in his 40s, Kasner said.

“It is unknown why the bicyclist veered into traffic,” Kasner said.

Kasner said it is unknown if the man is a Kent resident. Officers are still gathering information about the man and the accident.
