ASSAULT
A 27-year-old woman told police that her husband of eight years grabbed her, shoved her and broke through a locked bedroom door to get to her during a domestic dispute at about 12:07 a.m. Nov. 25 at an apartment in the 24800 block of 101st Place Southeast.
Police cited the 29-year-old man for investigation of fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief, according to the police report. Police cited the man through the mail because the man fled the apartment in a car before officers arrived. Police looked for him, but were unable to find him.
The couple argued for about 10 minutes when the husband grabbed her by her arms and shoved her into a bathroom door frame, the wife told officers. She said she then locked herself in a bedroom, but the husband broke through the door and knocked her into a wall. The officer noted that the door had damage on the outside as well as a broken lock.
The wife told officers that she had requested a divorce about three weeks ago because she was tired of being physically abused by her husband. She said the abuse had started about four months into their marriage.
THEFT
Police arrested a husband and wife for investigation of third-degree theft after they reportedly took food and other items at about 1:44 p.m. Nov. 25 from a store in the 200 block of South Washington Avenue.
A store employee called police after seeing the man and woman hiding items in personal bags, according to the police report.
The husband, 25, and the wife, 22, admitted to officers that they took food from the store. The couple had food, children’s toys, blankets and personal items in their bags.
Before going to the store, the couple visited a nearby Child Protective Services office to see their children who are in protective custody.
Police noted in the report that the husband and wife each are on probation for narcotics-related offenses.
PROSTITUTION
Kent Police arrested an 18-year-old woman for investigation of prostitution at about 4 p.m. Nov. 27 in the 23200 block of Pacific Highway South.
An officer watched the woman walk up and down several blocks of the street before she entered a car driven by a 61-year-old man, according to the police report.
The officer noted in the report that the area of the highway is used by prostitutes to attract customers, so the officer decided to the vehicle over.
The driver initially told police that he simply offered to give the woman a ride to Tukwila, but after a short conversation with the officer admitted he knew the woman was a prostitute and his intention was “picking her up.”
The man told officers he offered the woman $60 to perform a certain sex act.
Police cited the man for no valid operator’s license and no liability insurance. The officer also warned the man to stay away from that area of the highway or next time he would be arrested for investigation of prostitution-related charges.
Police discovered the woman had a warrant out of Seattle for prostitution as well as an order advising her to stay out of areas of prostitution from the city of SeaTac. The woman denied to police that she had discussed with the driver a price for a sex act.
THEFT
A 19-year-old man reportedly tried to take five video games Nov. 24 from a store in the 26300 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.
Kent Police arrested him for investigation of third-degree theft.
Store security called police after they reportedly saw the man stuff five video games in his jacket and walk out of the store with no attempt to pay for the items. Security personnel tackled the man in the parking lot after he tried to run away from them.
Police watched a video from a store camera that showed the man placing the video games inside his jacket. The games were valued at $168.
The man did not want to talk to police about the incident, although he told them he was about to get off probation for a shoplifting offense and wanted to know if this incident would change his probation. The officer told the man that decision would be up to a judge.
