Attempted robbery
A man drove himself to the hospital July 8 after he sustained a stab wound to the chest when two men reportedly attempted to rob him at about 1 a.m. at a Kent store parking lot in the 25600 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.
The man was treated and released at Valley Medical Center in Renton for a single stab wound to the chest. The cut was about 2 inches wide and one-quarter inch deep, according to the Kent Police report.
The man told police he had parked his vehicle at a store parking lot when two men approached the driver’s side window and asked him for a cigarette. When the driver, who was alone in the car, rolled down the window, the two men told him to get out.
The driver pushed away one man, but the second man pulled him out of the car. The driver managed to get back in his car when one of the men pulled out about a 12-inch long knife and tried to grab the keys out of the ignition.
The man with the knife failed to get the keys, but stabbed the driver.
The driver then drove away, saw blood coming from his chest, and headed to the hospital. He did not know if the men left the parking lot on foot or in a vehicle.
Assault
Police arrested two women for investigation of fourth-degree assault after they reportedly punched another woman as she sat in her car at about 3:30 p.m. July 10 at an apartment complex parking lot in the 2700 block of South 256th Place.
The driver told officers the two women had followed her in another vehicle. When the woman stopped her car, the two women came up to the vehicle, opened the driver’s door, and started to punch her, according to the police report.
The driver, who sustained a cut upper lip, said she knew the women. She said one of them blamed her for breaking up a relationship with a boyfriend.
One woman told police she did punch the driver.
Escape
A man about to be taken into custody at the city jail at 11 a.m. July 10 for violation of his home-detention device fled from officers.
Asked to empty his pockets before entering the jail, the man ran out the door. An officer chased on foot, but the man escaped when he jumped a fence and ran into a nearby mobile home park, according to reports.
The man wore a home-detention device around his ankle on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Police issued an at-large citation against the man, for investigation of second-degree escape. Officers also reported the ankle bracelet as stolen because the man fled.
Assault
A landscape worker at a public-storage site allegedly grabbed a woman and tried to kiss her at about 11:30 a.m. July 7 in the 8600 block of South 222nd Street.
After identifying the man through calls to the landscaping company, police cited the man through the mail for investigation of fourth-degree assault. Reached by officers over the phone, the man said that he took the woman’s hand to kiss to thank her for the juice on such a hot day.
The woman told police the man came to her apartment door near the storage units and asked for a glass of water. She recognized him as a regular landscape worker at the site.
The woman said she told the man she had juice, but no water, and handed him a cup of it. When the man handed the cup back, she said, he grabbed her right wrist and pulled her toward him.
The woman said she told the man to let go and she tried to push him away. The man said he wanted to kiss her. She told police that he tried to kiss her face, but ended up kissing her arm and hand, and then let her go. He left the area with others in a landscape-maintenance vehicle.
