A 59-year-old Chehalis woman died in a collision at about 12:56 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 along southbound Interstate 5 just north of South 272nd Street near the Kent/Federal Way city borders.
A pickup truck driven by a 47-year-old Olympia man was towing another truck when it became disabled on I-5 southbound in lanes two and three of five lanes, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Aimee E. Ott, of Chehalis, was driving a 2022 Toyota Corolla that crashed into the rear of the towed vehicle. She was alone in the car and died at the scene. All three vehicles came to a rest in lanes two and three. The crash blocked the roadway for about five hours.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to the State Patrol. Drugs or alcohol were not involved. The Olympia man and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured.
