K-M’s Arino, Alabe-Chavez tapped for Rotary honors

Kent-Meridian seniors Bessie Arino and Daniel Alabe-Chavez are the Kent Rotary Students of the Week, for their achievements in career and technical programs.

Arino is the daughter of Moses Arino.

Arino’s achievements include managing the key club Web site along with her work in Japanese Club and Filipino Club.

After graduating, Arino hopes to attend the University of Washington, where she plans to major in computer science or computer engineering.

Alabe-Chavez is the son of Davey Tyau and Gina Alabe-Tyau of Kent.

Alabe-Chavez’s achievements includes working at a car dealership during the summer, where he has continually been a helping hand around the lot, offering assistance wherever and whenever needed. Alabe-Chavez also is active in the community. He regularly attends church and helps pass out food to those in need.

Alabe-Chavez is still narrowing down his college choices, but anticipates studying automotive engineering once he gets there.
