Kent-based United Territories of Pacific Islanders Alliance (UTOPIA) Washington has formed a partnership with Seattle-based HealthierHere to help King County residents looking for essential health and social services.
HealthierHere, a regional health equity collaborative, announced July 10 four new partnerships that will help residents connect to mental health support, housing, food, health care and more through trusted, community-based organizations.
UTOPIA is a nonprofit led by and for queer and trans Pacific Islanders. UTOPIA provides wraparound care and cultural support to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC residents across South King County, and now, through the HealthierHere Community Hub, it will help even more people navigate complex systems and connect to the care they need, according to a HealthierHere news release.
Also joining the Hub are:
• POCAAN, which provides HIV prevention, housing navigation, and behavioral health services to communities of color
• Peer Washington, offering peer-led recovery and wellness programs across the region, including South King County
• Pacific Islander Community Association of Washington (PICA-WA), in Federal Way, supporting Pacific Islander families through direct services and community organizing
The nonprofit HealthierHere Community Hub is a free, confidential service in King County that pairs people with one-on-one assistance to help them find and apply for the resources they or their families need – including food, utility assistance, health care, transportation, housing, and more. All King County residents are eligible, regardless of insurance, income, and immigration or housing status.
“We are thrilled to welcome these four incredible organizations to the HealthierHere Community Hub, and in turn, open the door to a wider variety of resources and support for the people of King County in this critical moment,” said John Kim, CEO of HealthierHere. “In the face of increasingly dire cuts to the social safety net that everyday people rely on, we will continue to bring together organizations across sectors to expand and strengthen our network of care that is rooted in trust, quality, and community.”
Since its official launch in July 2024, the HealthierHere Community Hub and its partners have served over 3,877 enrolled individuals in King County.
