A Kent man is accused of firing several gunshots out of a moving vehicle, shooting a 19-year-old man in the head while he was lighting sparklers outside of his home on the Fourth of July in Federal Way.
Sir Antonio-Patrick Agee II, 19, was charged with one count of first-degree assault on July 7, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Agee’s bail is set at $2 million and his arraignment is at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at the King County Courthouse.
Around 10 p.m. July 4 in the 33400 block of 35th Avenue SW in Federal Way, police were dispatched to reports of a shooting as people were gathered outside on the sidewalk celebrating the Fourth of July holiday.
Family members returned to the home from the park around 10 p.m. and were lighting off fireworks in front of their home, according to charging documents. A witness said a white sedan was speeding down the street and he yelled at the car to slow down as there were kids in the neighborhood, documents state. The witness told police a person — later identified as Agee — in the backseat of the sedan said something and allegedly fired several gunshots of out the window before fleeing the scene.
Officers located the victim, a 19-year-old man, laying unconscious and motionless at the end of the driveway with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim remains at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in extreme critical condition showing limited signs of brain function, according to the charging documents. Another round shot through the nearby bedroom window of a 12-year-old.
As officers were on scene of the shooting, another Federal Way officer on patrol located a white sedan driving recklessly on SW Campus Drive. A few minutes later, another officer located the white sedan traveling toward Highway 18. Law enforcement officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop near the interchange of Highway 167 and Highway 18.
All three occupants of the vehicle were detained and law enforcement officers reportedly saw a handgun in the backseat where Agee had been sitting, documents state. A witness transported to the traffic stop identified the suspect vehicle as the vehicle involved in the shooting. All three occupants were taken to the police station for investigation.
The female driver — who was driving a friend’s car — spoke with police, stating she, Agee and another male passenger were on their way to Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn to watch fireworks that night, documents state. She told police she heard a person on the sidewalk say something and one of the male passengers yelled back, before hearing what she believed to be fireworks.
Agee reportedly denied being involved in any shooting and did not identify anyone else in the vehicle, according to charging documents. He was later booked into King County Jail.
The registered owner of the white sedan spoke with police and identified the people who took her car to drive to watch fireworks after hosting a get-together at her house, documents state. The following day on July 6, another witness identified Agee out of a photo montage.
Agee has no prior criminal history.
