Kent Police arrested eight city residents Wednesday who had warrants for domestic violence related cases.
Twenty-seven Kent officers as well as a probation team and state Department of Corrections staff participated in part of a nationwide effort by more than 200 agencies to arrest anyone wanted for family or domestic violence, according to a Kent Police media release.
Officers attempted to serve 45 warrants in Kent, which led to the eight arrests.
“Collaborated efforts such as this reinforce to offenders that they will be held accountable for their violence,” Kent Police Sgt. Mike O’Reilly said. “We want to put offenders in jail so families can be safe.”
This marked the 12th year of the annual sweep across the country known as the National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.
