Kent Police Blotter: Feb. 7-20

Incidents include shootings, robberies, stolen vehicles

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Feb. 7-20:

Feb. 7

Cellphone store robbery: 1:18 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery at the T-Mobile Store, 23233 Pacific Highway S. An employee had been robbed at gunpoint by two subjects: one male and one female both armed with firearms. The suspects took the employee’s phone and broke into the store’s safes taking an unknown amount of money.

Feb. 10

Stolen vehicle: 1:59 a.m., officers were in the middle of recovering a stolen vehicle in the 600 block of Bridges Avenue South. While doing so, another reported stolen vehicle was seen driving past the officers. Officers stopped and placed the driver under arrest and located a firearm.

Feb. 12

Vision store burglary: 4:27 a.m., officers were dispatched to an alarm at the Benson Vision Center, 25022 104th Ave. SE. The alarm company advised there were two front door alarm trips as well as from the interior lobby motion area. Upon arrival officers caught a subject exiting the building through the front door who was later arrested for burglary.

Shots fired: 4:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to multiple reports of shots fired at the Alvista 240 Apartments, 24028 110th Pl. SE. Upon arrival officers were told subjects associated with two vehicles had exchanged gunfire within the complex. No victims or suspects were located.

Feb. 13

Two shooting victims: 11:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to two separate shooting victims, one at the MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and one at Valley Medical Center in Renton. From the victims it was learned there had been a party in the upstairs portion of a business at 122 Railroad Ave. S., and an unknown male had shot an attendee of the party and a dancer. The door to the business was locked and blood was visible inside the stairwell as well as outside on the sidewalk. Detectives responded to investigate, obtained a search warrant, and located the crime scene.

Feb. 15

Vehicle stolen with woman inside: 1:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Midtown 64 Apartments, 24615 64th Ave. S., regarding a recently stolen vehicle. The driver had parked and exited his vehicle to open a garage gate when someone jumped into his vehicle and stole it. The vehicle was stolen while his girlfriend was still asleep in the passenger seat. Shortly thereafter Tukwila PD was dispatched to the location of where the suspect forced the girlfriend out of the vehicle. Around 7:30 a.m., another officer was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle (the stolen vehicle) which was parked in the middle of the road at 96th Avenue South and South 203rd Street. The officer found a subject in the driver’s seat who matched the description of the original auto theft subject. This male ran from the officer and was not located.

Tool store robbery: 7:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at Harbor Freight Tools, 18128 East Valley Hwy. Upon arrival officers were informed that two potential customers were in one of the aisles when an employee approached them asking if they needed help. One of the customers pulled out a handgun and the employee backed away. The two customers, now suspects, walked out of the store with two carts full of merchandise. A witness tried to intervene and one of the suspects pepper sprayed him to get away and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Feb. 18

Residents robbed: 11:24 a.m., an officer was contacted by two subjects who reported they were victims of a robbery. They were home at their residence in the 2200 block of South 252nd Street when they exited to go somewhere. They saw two subjects standing near their vehicle. When they approached, the two subjects attacked them. One of the victims was hit by the suspect who used a firearm as a blunt object. The suspects robbed the homeowners of $350 and a bank card. One of the victims went to the hospital with a broken rib.

Child sexual assault: 9:48 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a local hospital regarding a sexual assault of a 3-year-old child. The child had sustained significant injuries indicative of a sexually assault.

Feb. 19

Son shoots mother: 3:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Alvista 240 Apartments, 24028 110th Pl. SE. A 17-year-old male resident was home with friends when his mother arrived home. An argument ensued between the mother and son where the mother was shot once. Both the mother and son were gone upon the officers’ arrival. The mother was later contacted when she arrived at a local hospital with a single gunshot wound.

Feb. 20

Road rage shooting: 12:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim. The victim had been shot three times in the 24400 block of Military Road South. The victim and his friend were driving when another vehicle cut them off and they stopped in the roadway. When the victim got out of the vehicle, someone from the other vehicle got out with a gun and opened fire. The victim of the shooting is expected to survive.
