A sampling of Kent Police incidents Jan. 30 to Feb. 10:

Jan. 30

WinCo shooting: 3:41 a.m., patrol responded to a shooting at WinCo 21100 91st Pl. S. It appears the suspect purchased groceries and was in a dispute in the parking lot with a person in the vehicle, arguing over a duffle bag. The suspect produced a firearm, which they fired once towards the victim, and then all parties fled in vehicles.

Street shooting: 11:02 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting at 22500 100th Ave. SE. They learned the caller’s boyfriend was in dispute with several other subjects, and a fight had broken out; during a lull in the fight, the suspect went to his vehicle, took out a gun and fired it three times.

Jan. 31

Apartment shooting: 7:35 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting at Central Flats Apartments, 23200 88th Ave. S. The victims had come home and noticed a vehicle occupied by several suspects wearing masks; soon after that, the suspects shot at them numerous times. The victim stated he was unsure who the suspects were but mentioned they were possibly related to previous crimes he committed or previous associates.

Gas station shooting: 7:53 p.m., a Kent detective viewed a shooting at Arco, 13100 SE Kent Kangley Road. The suspect, who was outside of the business, fired shots and struck one of the windows of the gas station, then fled on foot. The suspect was located a short time later and arrested; five casings were in the parking lot of the gas station.

Feb. 1

Car lot shooting: 2:15 p.m., patrol was dispatched to a shooting at 1400 Central Ave. S. The victim, who works at the car lot, had been outside when a sedan drove by on Alder Lane, at which point an unknown subject shot out of the vehicle, striking the victim in the leg. Six casings were located at the scene.

Shooting suspect arrest: Officers were dispatched to a shooting at 22900 64th Ave. S. Mom and son were chased by suspects in a stolen white Kia. The son in the back seat was shot in the back. Officers located the Kia fleeing the scene and chased it into Oberto’s property, 7060 S. 238th St. The driver and passenger bailed from the car. The driver was caught immediately. The passenger got out of the vehicle with a rifle, swung it towards the officer as he was getting out of his car, then jumped a fence and fled into the wooded area south of Oberto. Officers locked down the site, and King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter found the suspect hiding. He was eventually arrested, and both went to the King County jail.

Feb. 2

Shooting victim: 8:42 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting at Washington Park Apartments, 11000 SE Kent Kangley Road. They arrived and found the victim had been shot in the abdomen twice by her boyfriend, who had fled in a vehicle. Patrol searched the area and found three casings.

Feb. 3

Park robbery: 1:05 a.m., patrol responded to a robbery at Lake Fenwick Park, 26000 Lake Fenwick Road. The victim stated he had parked at the park when an SUV blocked him. Five-armed people exited the vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint, taking his wallet, phone and vehicle.

Gun threat: At SE 240th Street and 116th Avenue SE, a victim was traveling westbound on SE 240th Street when a vehicle pulled aside the victim, and the driver pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect vehicle was located northbound on 104th Avenue SE and stopped. Four subjects inside the vehicle were detained. The driver was picked up and booked into the King County jail.

Feb. 4

Police SUV rammed: Officers were dispatched to a suspect vehicle at Walgreens, SE 256th Street and 104th Avenue SE. The vehicle was associated with a male seen coming/going to the store and ducking between vehicles. Officers contacted the driver. The driver started backing the vehicle up to get away. In the process, he rammed a police vehicle, causing minor damage. Officers opened the truck door and grabbed the suspect’s arm, and the suspect pulls away. The suspect refused all commands, and after a Taser cycle, he fled in the truck.

Parking lot shooting: Officers responded to a dispute, which upgraded to a shooting at 730 Central Ave. S. Numerous people were fleeing, and casings were found on the scene. The conflict was between 15 and 20 people in the parking lot, and several vehicles were involved, according to witnesses who relayed this information to the officer on the scene. Two of the four vehicles officers were contacted as they were fleeing the area. Both vehicles stopped. One was arrested and booked; the other was arrested at large. The shooting is still under investigation.

Arco robbery: 4:33 a.m., patrol responded to a robbery at Arco ampm, 2400 116th Ave. SE. The victim advised that a male walked into the business wearing a mask, presented a firearm, and demanded the money from the tills as well as the cellphone of the clerk.

Feb. 5

Burglary, shooting: 2:56 p.m., patrol responded to a burglary at 24200 94th Ave. SE. The suspects were at the front door trying to kick the door in, and at least one had a gun. Before the patrol arrived, the suspects fired through the door of the residence, striking a resident in the bicep, then fled in a vehicle. Patrol located the vehicle and arrested the suspects; the victim was transported to the hospital.

Feb. 6

Shooting victim: 5:50 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting at 23500 102nd Ave. SE. Several people called in, reporting hearing shots being fired and bullets coming into their residences. Another person called in, stating a male had been shot and was being driven to Valley Medical Center in Renton. The victim was interviewed at the hospital; he reported being around Popeye’s, 23920 102nd Ave. SE, and was shot in the leg multiple times but did not provide any further information.

Feb. 8

Commercial burglary: 5:05 a.m., patrol responded to a burglary in progress at Fast Signs, 7800 S. 180th St. Patrol arrived and found one of the front glass doors had been smashed open. Upon reviewing the cameras, they found a stolen truck arrived; the suspect got out and broke the window, went inside briefly, and then left.

Feb. 9

Highway robbery: 1:10 p.m., patrol responded to a robbery near 25100 Pacific Highway S. The victim had been walking on the sidewalk when a vehicle stopped, and the masked and armed occupants got out and confronted him. They demanded to see what was in the victim’s backpack and struck the victim in the head with a gun. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

Feb. 10

Hogan Park shooting: 2:16 a.m., patrol responded to a shooting at Hogan Park, 24400 Russell Road S. The victim had been in the park with friends and family when a vehicle approached, yelled something and then fired several shots. One victim was struck in the arm and another in the stomach. Both victims were transported to the hospital.

Street robbery: 5:45 p.m., patrol responded to a robbery around Riverview Boulevard and S. 212th St. The victim had been walking when two vehicles stopped, and numerous people got out of each vehicle, several of them armed. The suspects demanded his wallet and phone and asked what was in his backpack. The suspects took those items and then fled in the vehicles they arrived in.
