Kent Police investigating four shooting deaths in four weeks

Four people have been shot and killed in Kent in the last four weeks.

Four people have been shot and killed in Kent in the last four weeks.

Suspects remain at large in three of the shootings, with one man the suspect in two deaths Aug 12-13 at a homeless camp.

In the latest case, Kent Police say a 39-year-old Tukwila man was shot to death on Sunday in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue South. Police arrested a 27-year-old Kent man in connection with the shooting at about 1:50 a.m.

“This was not a random act and is not related to our other investigations,” said police spokesman Jarod Kasner. “As we confirm more we will release the information.”

Kasner said that they have found the gun allegedly used in the shooting. But he declined to release any further information such as how the two men knew each other or how many shots were fired. The identification of the victim has yet to be released.

Police continue to seek the public’s help to track down who shot and killed Inacio Nein, 37, of Kent, on Aug. 26 on the East Hill.

As the investigation unfolds, detectives say the shooting does not appear to be a random incident, according to a Kent Police media release on Sept. 1. Detectives are certain that there are people with valuable information related to this shooting.

Investigators want to talk to anyone who may have seen something suspicious or possibly observed anything out of the ordinary just prior to the shooting between 8 and 9:30 p.m., in the wooded area, near Southeast 240th Street and 108th Avenue Southeast.

Police responded to a call about gunfire in the East Hill area and found a man bleeding from the head walking from a nearby residence, according to a written report to the City Council about the incident by Derek Matheson, city chief administrative officer. The man claimed to have been involved in a robbery and told police his uncle had been shot nearby. Officers then found Nein in the wooded area near Southeast 244th Street.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Nein in a phone interview on Tuesday. Nein died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911, or contact the Kent Police Department tip line at 253-856-5808. Callers can remain anonymous.

Detectives are trying to solve who killed a woman and a man at a homeless camp on Aug. 12-13. Police had assigned as many as eight detectives to those shootings prior to the two additional homicides.
