Aviation Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Thomas Payne, of Kent, left in the above photo, demonstrates how to steer the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan to Aviation Electronics Technician 3rd Class Raylene Chavez, from Montebello, California, in the pilot house during a replenishment-at-sea last month in the Philippine Sea with the guided-missile destroyer USS Barry. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
