Kent Police, assisted by Seattle Police, arrested a 38-year-old Tacoma man for investigation of multiple crimes over the last several weeks in both cities, including ramming a fire truck in Seattle.
Officers from Kent and Seattle took the man into custody Wednesday, Aug. 6 after tracking him to his workplace in Fife, according to an Aug. 7 Kent Police news release. Officers arrested him during his lunch break outside the business. He had a handgun but no concealed pistol license.
Officers booked the man for investigation of three counts of eluding police, one count of second-degree attempted assault and reckless driving.
The man was originally spotted by a Seattle Police officer on June 20 after he reportedly illegally entered a tow yard with the intent to remove his previously impounded vehicle, according to police. The man allegedly entered the vehicle and rapidly reversed toward the officer’s patrol vehicle. The officer’s vehicle was pinned against a fence. Other officers responded, but the man drove off.
On June 23, the same man reportedly was spotted by by a Kent Crime Reduction Unit officer recklessly driving through heavy traffic on Pacific Highway South in Kent. Two officers attempted to stop him, but the pursuit was discontinued for safety reasons.
On Aug. 3, the same man reportedly was again in Seattle and offered firefighters a whippet (a small canister of nitrous oxide, often used as a recreational drug), according to police. The firefighters declined. The man allegedly decided to ram their fire truck with his vehicle. He then fled.
Seattle officers initially pursued his vehicle but terminated the pursuit when he allegedly began to aggressively brake check them and intentionally reversed toward them, attempting to ram their patrol cars.
