A 19-year-old Kent woman faces potential charges of vehicular assault and DUI after she reportedly crashed a SUV that injured herself and two passengers early Monday morning, Dec. 1 along Interstate 5.
The woman was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound, just north of South 272nd near Kent and Federal Way, when she reportedly crossed all lanes of traffic from lane one and struck the concrete barrier on the left shoulder, according to a Dec. 1 Washington State Patrol press memo.
The SUV came to rest on its side on the left shoulder and was totaled, according to the State Patrol. The crash occurred at about 4:02 a.m.
Paramedics transported the driver to Valley Medical Center in Renton, according to the State Patrol. Paramedics transported a 19-year-old Renton woman and 21-year-old Tacoma woman to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way. All three occupants were wearing seatbelts.
The State Patrol listed speeds too fast for conditions and DUI as the cause of the crash and noted drugs or alcohol were involved.
