Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly punched her husband in the face and threatened to hit him with a loop whip formed from an alarm clock cord.
The incident occurred Oct. 27 at an apartment in the 25100 block of 45th Avenue South, according to the police report.
The husband told officers that he and his wife argued about money since the previous day and he decided to ignore her which upset her. She used a closed fist to hit him in the face as he sat on the bed.
The wife then reportedly grabbed an alarm clock and looped the cord like a whip and threatened to hit her husband. The husband said he grabbed his wife by her arms, sat her on the bed and left the room.
Officers interviewed the wife who said she had kicked over a plastic drawer in the room but denied she had hit her husband or threatened to use a cord to hit him.
Police reported that the husband had a cut lip. They took the wife to jail.
Escape
Officers arrested a man for third-degree escape after he reportedly fled from Kent Municipal Court at about 3:57 p.m. Oct. 29.
A judge asked for the man by name and wanted to know if he was in court because of a warrant, according to the police report.
The man did not answer, but a court employee knew he was in the courtroom. When a security officer asked the man for identification, he reportedly fled on foot with court security in pursuit.
After pulling away from the officer and leaving the building, the man hid by a car in the court parking lot before he took off running again.
Security caught up to the man next to a nearby apartment complex. When police arrived, security had the man face down in the grass.
The man told police he had waited in court but it was past his court time. He said when the officer grabbed onto him, he became scared and ran.
Police had arrested the man on Oct. 25 for investigation of a no contact order violation and third-degree malicious mischief, according to jail records. He was released the next day.
Drugs
Police arrested a man for investigation of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after they spotted his white Cadillac parked after dark at about 6:54 p.m. Oct. 29 at Morrill Meadows Park, 10600 S.E. 248th St.
An officer on patrol spotted the car in the parking lot and decided to investigate since the park had closed at dusk, according to the police report.
The officer walked up to the car and spotted a female on the passenger side. She was not wearing any pants. The officer also noticed the smell of marijuana.
When the driver exited the car, his pants were down and his belt undone. When asked by officers if he was having sex with the woman, he replied they were messing around.
The woman told police she had just recently met the man. She denied they had sex or agreeing to any kind of sex for drugs or money deal.
The man agreed to let officers search his car. Police found a gallon-sized bag in the trunk and two baggies inside the car with marijuana. They also found a smoking pipe. The material in the bag in the trunk tested positive for 17.6 grams of marijuana while the smaller baggies had 4.6 grams of marijuana.
Assault
Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched another man in the face at about 11:34 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Inn Between Tavern, 25412 104th Ave. S.E.
The man who had been punched told officers that it was his sister’s boyfriend who attacked him, according to the police report.
The man said he had broken up a fight earlier at another bar and that the man tried to start another fight and hit him in the face before leaving the bar. A witness confirmed that the man had been punched.
Police found the man who reportedly threw the punches jogging northbound along 104th Avenue Southeast. He told officers it was just a bar fight and it was mutual combat. Officers transported the man to jail.
Theft
Police cited a woman for third-degree theft after she reportedly took three cosmetic items Oct. 31 from Kmart, 24800 W. Valley Hwy.
Store security saw the woman rip open three items and hide them in her boot before leaving the store with no attempt to pay for the items, according to the police report.
“It was stupid and I don’t know why I did it,” the woman told police.
The items were valued at $24.69.
