Kent woman pushes husband into headboard during divorce dispute | Police Blotter

Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly pushed her husband into a desk and headboard during an argument about getting a divorce at about 7:03 p.m. July 29 at a home in the 10900 block of Southeast 235th Place.

The husband called 911 after his wife reportedly pushed him from behind, according to the police report. The woman had told her husband she wanted a divorce, so he offered to pack her things.

The husband said to officers that his wife then followed him into their bedroom and pushed him from behind, knocking him into a computer table and a headboard. He said he hit his head on the headboard and his ankle on the bed frame. He said he believed his wife wanted to provoke him to hit her.

After the husband called 911, he sat on a couch with the couple’s 1-year-old child. He said he did not want to give the child to his wife, who wanted to leave. The wife then reportedly slapped her husband in the face and took the child.

The wife returned home with the child while officers were at the house. The wife told police she had pushed her husband but didn’t slap him. She said she was frustrated with her husband so she pushed him.

Stolen car

Officers arrested a 23-year-old Kent man for investigation of stealing a vehicle after a short police pursuit in Kent and Auburn at about 4:45 a.m. Aug. 3.

An officer saw a vehicle traveling eastbound on West Meeker Street at an extremely high rate of speed, according to an email from Kent Police spokesman Jared Kasner.

The vehicle was going so fast that when it crossed the railroad tracks just west of Sixth Avenue North, the front wheels both left the roadway, jumping the tracks.

An officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. Police pursued the vehicle and were able to stop it in Auburn. There were no injuries.

Police arrested the driver, who reportedly had stolen the vehicle a couple of days earlier.

Drugs

Police cited and released a man and a woman for investigation of possession of marijuana after they spotted a vehicle near Lake Meridian Park at about  11:23 p.m. July 29 in the 27100 block of 148th Avenue Southeast.

Officers were on foot patrol at the park heading back to their car when they saw a vehicle turn off its headlights and pull into an access trail for Soos Creek Trail along 152nd Way, according to the police report.

Officers saw the car along the trail and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle as they approached it. An officer asked the driver what they were doing along the trail and the man replied, “Just smoking some weed.”

When police asked the man if he had any marijuana inside the car, he said he did and handed them a plastic baggie. Officers tested the material in the baggie and discovered 0.3 grams of marijuana. Both the man and the woman told police they had smoked the marijuana.

The man and woman had removed steel pins in order to get their vehicle down the trail.

Assault

Officers cited a man at large for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the T-shirt, pulled her off a bed and shoved her against the wall at about 12:39 a.m. July 31 at a home in the 900 block of Third Avenue North.

The woman told officers she had dated the man for more than two years and they got into an argument when she asked him why he got home so late, according to the police report.

Both were sitting on a bed when the man told his girlfriend that he was out earlier with another woman. The man then began texting someone and told his girlfriend it was another woman. He then reportedly grabbed his girlfriend and pushed her against a wall before grabbing a few clothes and leaving the home.

The girlfriend called 911 to report the incident. She said her back hurt from being pushed against a wall.

Police used a K9 unit to try to track the man but could not find him.

Malicious mischief

Police arrested a woman for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief after she reportedly punched a glass door at her mother’s home Aug. 1 in the 12700 block of Kent Kangley Road.

The mother told officers she had been in an argument with her daughter and then locked her daughter and granddaughter out of the house, according to the police report.

The daughter banged on the front door and demanded to be let in. She then went to a side door but before she opened it the mother locked the door. The daughter then reportedly punched the glass in the door, severely cutting her arm.

Paramedics treated the daughter for the cuts and transported her to Valley Medical Center in Renton.

The mother said the daughter does not live at the home and she wants her to pay for the damages.
