Candidates for two Kent City Council races and one King County Council race will participate in The Future of Kent: Candidate Town Hall, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S.
The event is sponsored by the Seattle-based African American Leadership Forum along with Kent Lutheran Church, Kent Kadre, Vocal Washington, the Coalition of Immigrants, Refugees and Communities of Color (CIRCC) and the Dare2Be Project.
The candidates:
Kent City Council Position No. 2
• Neet Grewal
• Satwindrer Kaur
Grewal is a newcomer challenging the incumbent Kaur, the current City Council president.
Kent City Council Position No. 6
• Sharn Shoker
• Andy Song
Shoker and Song are competing to replace Brenda Fincher, who decided not to seek reelection. Song is a Kent School Board director.
King County Council District No. 5
• Peter Kwon
• Steffanie Fain
Kwon and Fain are competing to replace Dave Upthegrove, who resigned to become state lands commissioner. Kwon is a SeaTac City Council member.
