Local lawmakers sponsor legislative pages during session in Olympia

Area high school students recently served as pages for local lawmakers in the Washington State House of Representatives at Olympia this legislative session.

Pages assume a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor. Pages support the efficient operation of the Legislature while also receiving daily civics instruction, drafting their own bills and participating in mock committee hearings.

Fay Swetkis-Greenwald, a student at Olympia High School, was sponsored by Rep. Debra Entenman, D-Kent (District 47), Fay is the daughter of Doreen Swetkis and Marc Greenwald of Olympia.

Aeddan Claflin, a student at Raisbeck Aviation High School in Tukwila, was sponsored by Rep. Tina Orwall, D-Des Moines (District 33), Aeddan is the child of Dawn and Erik Claflin of Burien.

Amy Kaur, a student at Glacier Middle School in Buckley, was sponsored by Rep. Mia Gregerson, D-SeaTac (District 33), Amy is the daughter of Jagtar Singh and Jagjit Kaur of Burien.
