Cat lovers might want to attend a free Lost Cat Behavior seminar from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent, 21615 64th Ave. S.
Every year in King County, hundreds of cats become lost. The vast majority of these pets are never reunited with their owners. A few strays end up at animal shelters, like the King County Pet Adoption Center, and go home with new families. However, most are never seen again, according to a media release from Regional Animal Services of King County.
To help improve the odds of finding a lost cat and returning it to its owner, Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) is teaming up with pet detective Kat Albrecht of Missing Pet Partnership to offer a Lost Cat Behavior seminar. The seminar will examine the science of finding lost cats by studying where they tend to go, how they behave when lost, and how they can be found. Appropriate for any cat lover, the seminar will include case studies of cats that were lost and recovered, some under remarkable circumstances.
“By understanding the behaviors of lost cats, we can increase the likelihood that a lost cat will be recovered and reunited with its owner,” said Albrecht. “This seminar is a unique opportunity for cat lovers in King County to learn more about feline behavior, and learn how they may be able to help owners who are searching for their missing pet.”
