The sixth annual Poverty Bay Wine Festival runs March 5-7 at the Landmark Event Center, 23660 Marine View Dr. S., in Des Moines.

Attendees will get a chance to taste wine from 25 Pacific Northwest wineries as well as enjoy live jazz and food.

The opening event features A Night in the Vineyard Gala at 7:30 p.m. March 5. The optional black-tie gala includes a hors d’oeuvres and desserts buffet catered by Anthony’s HomePort, unlimited wine tasting and music by the Steve Ryals Trio and Ed Taylor & TaylorMade.

Tickets are $75 in advance and $85 the door for the gala.

Tickets for the wine tasting on March 6-7 are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The wine tasting runs from noon to 7 p.m. March 6 and from noon to 5 p.m. March 7 at the Landmark Event Center.

“The wine festival gala is the hottest ticket in town,” said Lisa Meineke, president of the Des Moines Rotary, in a media release. “Everybody has a great time. People come back year after year. And this year we have new wineries and more wineries than ever before.”

The music lineup on March 6 includes Darren Motamedy (12:30-3 p.m.) and 4th Degree (3:30-6:30 p.m.). The featured music on March 7 includes Rouge (12:30-2:30 p.m.) and Billet-Deux (3-5 p.m.).

Local restaurants and gourmet food vendors will share samples of breads, cheese, smoke salmon, chocolate and other items during the festival.

The Rotary Club of Des Moines has raised more than $150,000 during the first five years of the festival. Proceeds go to a variety of charitable projects, including college scholarships, school grants, recreation programs for children, food banks and homeless programs.
