Section of State Route 167 in Kent to be fully closed night of April 24

From 10 p.m. Thursday, April 24 to 4 a.m. Friday, April 25 between S. 180th Street and S. 212th Street

State Route 167 in Kent will be fully closed northbound and southbound for construction from 10 p.m. Thursday, April 24 to 4 a.m. Friday, April 25 between South 180th Street and South 212th Street.

The following on-and off-ramps will also be closed:

• Southwest 41st Street on-ramp to southbound SR 167

• South 212th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167

• Northbound SR 167 off-ramp to South 43rd Street

• Southbound SR 167 off-ramp to South 212th Street

A signed detour will be in place.

The work is part of the SR 167 Corridor Improvements Project, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The project is comprised of the SR 167 Toll Equipment Upgrade Project and the SR 167, SR 516 to South 277th Street Southbound Auxiliary Lane Project, according to WSDOT. As part of the SR 167 Toll Equipment Upgrade Project, WSDOT plans to update the SR 167 toll system to create consistency along the I-405/SR 167 corridor.

This project would upgrade the SR 167 toll equipment to be the same as the I-405 toll equipment, resulting in a continuous 50-mile I-405/SR 167 express toll lane system and a consistent customer experience in the express toll lanes. WSDOT also plans to construct an auxiliary lane on southbound SR 167 between SR 516 and South 277th Street in Kent.

Once the project is complete, travelers will experience new, modern SR 167 express toll lanes that tie into the Renton to Bellevue I-405 express toll lane system, currently under construction, and the express toll lanes to Lynnwood, which opened to the public in 2015. The long-term vision includes a 50-mile express toll lane system between SR 512 in Puyallup and the I-405/I-5 interchange in Lynnwood.
