Television and streaming viewers will be able to watch Kent Police officers in action later this year.

Kent will be part of the CW series “Police 24/7.” Xfinity/Comcast carries the show on channel 112 at 8 p.m. Thursdays. The second season debuts Jan. 23, although Kent is not part of that episode.

“I want to put in a plug for ‘Police 24/7’ series,” Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla said during his Jan. 21 Public Safety Report to the City Council. “Last year we were asked to participate as one of a handful of departments across the country to be involved.”

The CW “Police 24/7” website describes the show:

“This adrenaline-packed series delivers raw, unfiltered access into the world of sheriffs and police departments across the United States as they serve and protect at all costs,” according to the post. “From drug busts to routine traffic stops, you never know what to expect, but these officers are ready 24/7 to keep their communities safe.”

Episodes are available to watch on the website. Padilla said the police department will post social media announcements prior to shows that include Kent officers.

CW camera crews spent a couple of months last year riding along with Kent officers to capture their day-to-day engagement with the community.

“We were pleased to help showcase what a great job is going on out there,” Padilla said.
