Thousands of families received food boxes, face masks and hand sanitizer during a free distribution event Friday, Aug. 28 at the accesso ShoWare Center parking lot in Kent.

The event started at 9:30 a.m. and closed down about 2:30 p.m.

“I’m so proud of our community for coming together during this challenging time to make these resources available to our residents and Kent families,” Mayor Dana Ralph said in a statement. “Thank you to the incredible volunteers, staff and partners that made Friday’s PPE and food box distribution event at ShoWare Center such a huge success.”

The city of Kent partnered with Pacific Coast Fruit to distribute the items to help people combat the impact of COVID-19.
