65-year-old woman dies in Auburn crash on A Street SE

Woman, 28, reportedly speeding and ran red light in two-vehicle collision

A 65-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon, June 30 on A Street SE in Auburn.

The woman died at the scene, according to Auburn Police. Officers closed A Street SE between 15th Street SE and 17th Street SE for several hours.

Auburn Police Department spokesperson Kolby Crossley said that at about 12:21 p.m. a 28-year-old woman, while going northbound on A Street SE., reportedly failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with another vehicle that was turning left onto A Street.

“Early investigation leads us to believe that speed played a factor in this collision,” Crossley said.

Paramedics transported the 28-year-old woman to a local hospital for minor injuries, Crossley said. He said charges will be forwarded to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office once the traffic unit completes its investigation.

The roadway was closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted. The roadway reopened around 4:50 p.m., Crossley said.
