Brief overnight SR 167 closures this month in Renton, Kent and Auburn

June 8-9 in Kent; June 9-10 in Renton and June 12-13 in Auburn

Drivers should prepare for brief overnight closures a few dates this month of northbound and southbound State Route 167 in Kent, Renton and Auburn.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will be installing sign bridges and toll gantry structures as part of the SR 167 Corridor Improvements Project, according to WSDOT.

Kent, June 8-9:

All lanes of northbound and southbound SR 167 in Kent will be closed overnight from 84th Avenue South/Central Avenue North and West Willis Street/SR 516 from 10 p.m. Sunday, June 8, to 3 a.m. Monday, June 9. A signed detour will be in place.

The following on- and off-ramps will also be closed:

• 84th Avenue South on-ramp to southbound SR 167

• Willis Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167

• Northbound SR 167 off-ramp to 84th Avenue South

• Southbound SR 167 off-ramp to Willis Street

All lanes of northbound SR 167 in Auburn will be closed overnight from 15th Street Southwest to 15th Street Northwest from 10 p.m. Thursday, June 12, to 3 a.m. Friday, June 13. A signed detour will be in place.

The following on- and off-ramps will also be closed:

• Northbound SR 167 off-ramp to 15th Street Northwest

Once the project is complete, travelers will experience new, modern SR 167 express toll lanes that tie into the Renton to Bellevue I-405 express toll lane system, currently under construction, and the express toll lanes to Lynnwood, which opened to the public in 2015, according to WSDOT. The long-term vision includes a 50-mile express toll lane system between SR 512 in Puyallup and the I-405/I-5 interchange in Lynnwood.
