Head-on collision kills 31-year-old woman in Auburn

The fatal collision occurred May 11 in the area of I Street Northeast in north Auburn.

A 31-year-old woman died May 11 in a head-on two-vehicle collision in Auburn after her vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Sara R. Sampson died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries suffered in an accident in the roadway at 4700 I Street Northeast.

According to an email from Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:52 a.m. in the area of I Street Northeast in north Auburn.

First responders pronounced Sampson as deceased at the scene and transported a second driver involved, a man in his 30s, to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to Crossley, preliminary investigation showed that Sampson’s vehicle, traveling northbound on I Street Northeast, drifted into the oncoming lane of travel, colliding head-on with a southbound vehicle.

King County Medic One personnel attempted lifesaving measures on Sampson prior to pronouncing her as deceased.

No arrests resulted from the case, with the Auburn Police Traffic Division continuing investigation into the collision, according to Crossley.
