Man shot and killed in Federal Way

A K9 search team was activated, but no suspect was located after Feb. 1 shooting

A man was shot and died in Federal Way on Saturday, Feb. 1, and police are still searching for a suspect.

Federal Way Police Department Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan reported that at about 11:40 p.m. Feb. 1, immediately after shots were heard, officers were called and responded to a shooting in the 31000 block of Ninth Avenue S. When officers arrived on the scene, they began first aid on a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds, Buchanan said.

Buchanan said Monday, Feb. 3 the shooting occurred outside of a residence near the front door. Buchanan said this incident is being investigated as a homicide. The victim’s name has not yet been released as of this writing.

Buchanan said medical personnel arrived on the scene and declared the man deceased. Buchanan said no one else was injured, and the victim was not armed.

He said the area was searched using a K-9 team, but a suspect was not located. He said FWPD detectives responded and are investigating, and as of Feb. 3, a suspect has not been located.
