Renton Police arrest man for reportedly killing his mother

A 34-year-old man called 911 to report his mother’s death and was arrested when police arrived on the scene.

Renton Police arrested a 34-year-old man for reportedly killing his 62-year-old mother.

Just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, officers responded to a 911 call from the 400 block of Williams Avenue South where a man had reported the death of his mother, according to Renton Police. Officers confirmed the death and reportedly developed probable cause to detain the son.

According to Renton Police spokesperson Meeghan Black, there were obvious signs of a struggle at the scene along with other evidence that gave officers probable cause to arrest the man. Black said more will be known when the King County Medical Examiner’s Office determines the cause of death and extent of injuries.

The man was booked at 2:23 a.m. Jan. 21 into the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle.

This is an ongoing investigation and Renton Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the case to call 911 or email investigations at crimetips@rentonwa.gov and to reference case number 25-667.
