Federal Way Police officers arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a Feb. 13 murder at the Pavilion Apartments in Federal Way, and officers also located another 19-year-old man connected to the alleged crime.
On Oct. 8, Federal Way police announced that Federal Way detectives and Valley SWAT located a 16-year-old boy at a home in Issaquah, arrested him and booked him into the King County Juvenile Detention Center in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Nena Edmonds. According to the department, on Feb. 13, Edmonds was discovered shot outside her residence at the Pavilion Apartments, 1900 SW Campus Drive. The department stated that the 16-year-old suspect was 15 at the time of the alleged crime.
According to the department, officers also identified a 19-year-old man who had a prior relationship with Edmonds, but he is currently in custody on unrelated charges. The department stated that it referred charges for the 16-year-old boy and the 19-year-old man to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
“Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by first responders, Nena passed away. Federal Way Police Department detectives responded and initiated a homicide investigation,” the department stated. “Although the case began with few leads, detectives continued their diligent efforts to determine who was responsible for this heinous crime.”
According to the department, the arrest marked a significant development in a months-long investigation. Federal Way Police Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan said that regarding the exact charges, detectives are ironing out some details and will send everything to the prosecutor the morning of Oct. 9, but ultimately, the prosecutor’s office decides the charge.
