Douglas Carl Linstead | Obituary

Douglas Carl Linstead of Kent Washington passed away on Jan. 5 in Kent at the age of 90.

He was born on June 2nd 1931 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle Washington to Carl and Florence Linstead who were immigrants from Denmark. He learned at an early age his father’s trade of Silversmithing at their company Linstead’s Silversmith and worked there as a delivery boy while in school. He attended Benson High School in Portland Oregon and after graduation he joined the Air Force in April 1951. He was stationed at Donaldson AFB in South Carolina where he served 4 years during the Korean War. After his service he returned to Seattle and worked at his father’s Silversmithing company. He also worked at Boeing, Olympic Pipeline and later drove truck from Port of Seattle.

He had a brother Richard who proceeded him in death along with his parents.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte; children Gary, Patti, Carolyn and Greg; eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, along with cousins, nephews and nieces.

Doug enjoyed aviation, flying planes with friends, playing golf, making radio operated model airplanes, painting and playing the trumpet. He enjoyed big band era music and family gatherings with backyard barbeques.

Private service will be held and he will be interred at the Tahoma Veterans Cemetery in Kent Washington.
