Robert “Drifter” Eugene Merryfield
Robert “Drifter” Eugene Merryfield was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on August 27, 1936 to father Robert L. Merryfield and mother Audrey I. Merryfield. His only brother, Gary “Rocky” Merryfield passed away June 19, 2008, but is survived by his wife Linda Merryfield and their children; Jodie, Rocky, Dawn and Tammy. He is survived by his sister Sheila K. Eddy of Covington, Washington, where he spent his final days, and her children Skye, Krissi and Brian. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Judith Jacobs and Mickey Spencer. Bob was a kindhearted man who helped many people when they were in need, and never asked for a thing in return. He was well known in the community whether through personal or business connections, or his many interests and adventures throughout his 75 years on this earth taking him around the country and world. His interests ranged from rodeo and bull riding, hot air ballooning and flying his airplane, fishing and hunting, and too many more to list. Services were held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Drifter will be missed by many, but would want tears from none. He died as he lived, strong and quietly.
