Everett bares fangs at Seattle, wins 2-1

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 Dec. 12 at Comcast Arena in Everett.

Seattle (12-18-1-3) took a 1-0 lead at 2:23 of the first period on a goal by Sena Acolatse. Jeremy Schappert kept the puck in at the right point and sent it down the boards. Brendan Rouse got the puck and put a shot on Everett goalie Kent Simpson. The puck rebounded off Simpson’s right left to Acolatse in the slot. Acolatse quickly snapped the puck past a sprawling Simpson for his 11th goal of the year.

Everett (17-11-2-1) outshot Seattle 16-9 in the first period.

The Silvertips tied the game 1-1 at 8:23 of the second period on a goal by Kellan Tochkin. Tyler Maxwell had the only assist on the goal.

The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 14-6 in the second period and led 30-15 in total shots after two periods.

Tochkin scored at 17:11 of the third period to give the Silvertips a 2-1 lead. Byron Froese and Rasmus Rissanen had the assists on the goal.

Everett outshot Seattle 14-6 in the third period and 44- 21 in the game.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 42 of 44 shots and his record is now 10-14-1-3.

Simpson made 20 saves on 21 shots and his record is now 8-5-1-0.
