PREPS OF THE WEEK: Jan. 4-9
JORDAN THOMPSON WALKER, Kent-Meridian
• Grade: Junior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Thompson Walker delivered back-to-back big performances last week, scoring a season-high 19 points in a double-overtime loss to Tahoma, then coming back three nights later with 20 points against Kentridge.
• Favorite class: IB History of the Americas.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite LeBron James because he’s my favorite role model. I would serve fried chicken and sweet tea.
• Greatest athletic moment: When I made six 3-pointers during a game, although it was a loss, I felt I put the team in the best possible chance to win.
• Most recent book read/author: “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller.
• What’s on your iPod?: “Popular Demand” by The Clipse featuring Cam’ron.
• Also noted: Thompson Walker’s Environmental Science class adopted a park near Kent-Meridian that he helps take care of.
ERIK FULMER, Kentlake
• Grade: Freshman.
• Sport: Swimming.
• Accomplishment: Fulmer was one of the key factors in Kentlake’s 93-93 tie against league heavyweight Kentridge last week. The speedy freshman won the 200 IM (2:09.57), the 100 back (58.75) and swam a leg on Kentlake’s winning 400-free relay.
• Favorite class: Journalism.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Jason Lezack to dinner because he is the most beast swimmer in the world and we would go to Hooters.
• Greatest athletic moment: When we tied Kentridge.
• Most recent book read/author: “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
• What’s on your iPod?: My Chemical Romance or Britney Spears.
TYLER HEINZ, Kentridge
• Grade: Sophomore.
• Sport: Wrestling.
• Accomplishment: Heinz won three-consecutive matches, including the championship, en route to bringing home the 130-pound title from last weekend’s North Mason Invitational.
• Favorite class: Biology.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite all of my teammates to dinner at Shari’s Restaurant and we would get them the biggest plate there.
• Greatest athletic moment: Making it to regionals as a freshman.
• Most recent book read/author: “Siddhartha” by Herman Hesse.
• What’s on your iPod?: “Walk” by Pantera.
• Also noted: Heinz, who lettered as a freshman, has been wrestling for 11 years.
BRIANA SHANNON, Kent-Meridian
• Grade: Senior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Shannon scored a game-high 29 points, including six 3-pointers, leading the Royal past Kentridge last weekend, 58-45. It was Kent-Meridian’s first win of the season.
• Favorite class: Marketing.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite my friend Dorian Tursic to dinner and, in his honor, I would serve cheese pizza with ranch dressing (his favorite).
• Greatest athletic moment: Hitting the game-winner against Kentridge my sophomore year.
• Most recent book read/author: “Dear John” by Nicholas Sparks.
• What’s on your iPod?: Nicki Minaj.
• Also noted: Shannon opened the season by scoring 34 and 35 points respectively in back-to-back games against Kentwood and Thomas Jefferson.
ALEC WILSON, Kentwood
• Grade: Junior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Wilson scored a team-high 13 points during last Friday’s 70-60 South Puget Sound League North Division win over Kentlake.
• Favorite class: Recreation Sports.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: My mom and dad. I would serve tacos.
• Favorite movie: “The Hangover” and “Up.”
• Most recent book read/author: The Autobiography of Mark Twain.
• What’s on your iPod?: Jay-Z, Drake, Lil’ Wayne.
• Also noted: During Kentwood’s trip to Alabama over the holiday break to play in the T-Mobile Invitational, Wilson volunteered with his team at a local boys and girls club.
