Kent Schools Superintendent Vargas to speak on state of the school district Nov. 3

Kent Schools Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas will be the guest speaker at the Kent Chamber of Commerce’s November membership luncheon Nov. 3.

The event runs 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Vargas will speak on the state of the Kent School District for his presentation.

Vargas, who has been with the Kent School District since spring of 2009, is a nationally recognized education leader and was named California Superintendent of the Year by the California Association of School Administrators, among other honors.

He is a prominent speaker on leadership and school-system improvement. Some of his speaking engagements have included being a Distinguished Lecturer on “School System Readiness to Transform” at state and national conferences, and speaking at USA-China educational symposium in both countries.

The event takes place at the Meridian Valley Country Club, 24830 136th Ave. S., Kent. The registration cost with a full lunch is $20 for members, and $30 for non-members.
