A pickup truck driver reportedly clipped a semitrailer along the West Valley Highway in Kent and ended up going over a curb, striking eight parked cars at a business and landing on top of two cars.
No one was seriously injured in the accident at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 southbound on the West Valley Highway near South 219th Street, according to an email from Kent Police Sgt. Jarod Kasner.
A tractor-trailer traveling southbound on the highway moved over to make a right turn into a parking lot in the 21900 block when a pickup truck reportedly tried to pass the semi on the right. The pickup driver, a 21-year-old Seattle man, clipped the semi and then overcorrected the steering, causing him to lose control.
The pickup driver sustained a minor injury, Kasner said. The semitrailer driver was not injured. The parked cars were unoccupied.
Police cited the pickup driver for investigation of speed too fast for conditions.
