Todd Beamer derailed Jawan Stepney and Kentridge with a surprising 51-36 victory over the previously undefeated Chargers for the 4A West Central /Southwest bi-district boys basketball title at Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday.
Both teams already have secured regional tournament berths.
Kentridge plays Arlington at 8 p.m. Friday at Kent-Meridian High School in a regional opener. Beamer takes on Bothell at 4 p.m. this Saturday at Puyallup High School.
Against the Titans, Keasan Kelly led the fourth-ranked Chargers (24-1) with 13 points. Stepney, who erupted for 32 points in Kentridge’s bi-district semifinal win over Bellarmine Prep on Thursday, was held to a season-low four points.
Bogdon Blizynuk led the Titans (20-4) with 17 points.
Kentridge never got started. It shot poorly and left the first half with only 10 points on the scoreboard.
