Kentridge girls wear Cascade crown

JaQuaya Miller scored 21 points and Jordyn Jenkins had 18 as Kentridge clinched the North Puget Sound League Cascade Division girls basketball title with a 74-27 rout of Kentwood on the Chargers’ home court Tuesday night.

Kentridge, defending 4A state champion, built a 44-18 halftime lead and never looked back to improve to 13-0 in league, 17-2 overall.

Nicole Ajayi had seven points to lead the Conquerors (6-7, 9-10).

Dayla Ballena scored nine points and Morgan Gary contributed five points for Kentridge.

Last Friday, Kentridge went on the road to defeat Kentlake 50-38 behind Jenkins’ 21 points, Miller’s nine and Gary’s eight.

The Chargers complete the regular season Friday, hosting Kent-Meridian in a 7 p.m. game.

In boys’ action Tuesday, visiting Kentridge handed division champion Kentwood its first league loss, 65-46.

Jett Briceno led the Chargers (9-4, 14-5) with 22 points. Owen Paznokas had 13 and Tyler Cronk contributed nine.

D’Angelo Minnis’ 12 points paced the Conks (12-1, 15-4). Anjaylo Lloyd scored 10 points and Jahvonta Jones Jr. had 9.
