Sophomore Jordyn Jenkins scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Kentridge captured fourth place at the 4A state tournament with a 44-34 victory over Kentlake in the Tacoma Dome on Saturday.

The Chargers (26-3) pulled away from the Falcons (21-9) in the second half of their trophy-round game in the Hardwood Classic.

The No. 3 Chargers, who were upset by Woodinville in an overtime quarterfinal battle Thursday, took home only the program’s second state trophy.

Kentridge, who defeated Kentlake 55-44 in last year’s state quarterfinals, beat the Falcons twice again this past regular season – 38-33 on Dec. 16 and 50-38 on Jan. 19.

Sophomore guard Dayla Ballena scored 10 points and distributed three assists, and Morgan Gary had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Aniston Denckla’s 10 points led the Falcons.

Kentridge trailed 21-16 at the half before going on a 17-7 run in the third quarter to take a 33-28 lead entering the fourth quarter. Kentridge held Kentlake to five points in the final period.
