The city of Kent advises people and their pets to avoid contact with the Lake Fenwick water because of a high level of toxic algae.

City officials issued the alert Friday afternoon.

“Do not drink the water or engage in other water-contact activities such as fishing or wading until further notice,” according to the city.

Swimming is already prohibited at Lake Fenwick, 25828 Lake Fenwick Road. The city has a park at the lake.
