Kentwood falls to Skyline in season opener | Prep football

Gabe Johnson ran for 187 yards and a touchdown in Kentwood’s 21-14 season-opening loss to Skyline at Sammamish last Friday night.
Kentwood, trailing 14-0 at halftime, evened the score in the third quarter before the Spartans pulled away in the fourth quarter with a touchdown to take the nonconference game.
Nathan LaBorde and Carter Quinlin had rushing touchdowns for Kentwood.
LaBorde completed 11 of 29 passes for 115 yards, with two interceptions, for the Conquerors. Alphonse Oywak had three catches for 57 yards.
Elsewhere
At Kentlake 53, Kentridge 35: Hudson Potts threw two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Falcons defeated the Chargers in an NPSL season opener last Friday.
Issaquah 19, at Kent-Meridian 7: The Eagles turned back the Royals in a nonleague season opener on Aug. 30.
