Daughters of the American Revolution honors cadet

The Lakota Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented the National Defense Marine JROTC bronze medal to Cadet Meah Tanner at Kentwood High School.

The medal is for Tanner’s loyalty and patriotism and military and scholastic achievement in the JROTC program.

Hilda Meryhew, national defense chairperson for NSDAR, right, presented the honor.

In addition, DAR presented the Youth Good Citizenship Award to Sharlene Pioquinto, a graduate of Cascade Middle School in Auburn. She received the award for her honesty, courage and leadership.
