Kent Police investigating fatal collision

Kent Police are investigating a motorcycle fatality collision that occurred in the 26300 block of Pacific Highway South on Tuesday night.

At 10:47 p.m., Kent officers were dispatched to a traffic collision and arrived on scene to find a downed motorcyclist. Lifesaving efforts were immediately started by the responding officers, until the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority arrived to take over efforts. The rider, a 46-year-old Tacoma man, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information by witnesses indicate that the lone motorcycle rider was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on the highway when he swerved, struck the curb, and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Police traffic investigators are investigating the circumstances that contributed to the collision.
