Firefighters fought a blaze involving about 30 to 40 vehicles early Tuesday morning at a wrecking yard in the 26100 block of 78th Avenue South in Kent.

The fire broke out before 5 a.m. and crews went into a defensive attack against the large fire from the time they arrived, according to Puget Sound Fire. Crews extinguished the fire in about an hour and then began to methodically remove vehicles from the pile to make sure the fire was out.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A hazardous materials crew monitored the runoff.

Valley Regional Fire Authority assisted.
